For a while now, Google has been indexing blogs at an incredibly fast rate. After publishing an article, googlebot visits almost instantaneously. However, until recently I had not taken notice of how soon the post is exposed in the index. It’s one thing having the page visited, it’s another to have it appear in search results.
So, this morning, I conducted a few tests to see whether I could get a rough figure on the time that elapses between hitting the “Publish” button and seeing the site appear in Google Blog Search.
For a political blog, a 300 word post took 27 minutes to appear in the index.
Another general blog had a new post, also of about 300 words, that took 31 minutes to appear.
However, a new health blog I also write for had a 300 word article published 55 minutes ago and it has yet to appear in the search results.
Does the time elapsed depend on the perceived authority of the blog? Or the subject matter? Does it depend on any factors, or are all blogs treat in a Utopian manner as being equal?
EDIT: This post was exposed in Google blog searches within 24 minutes. However, it took googlebot 15 minutes to first visit it!
EDIT #2: The abovementioned health blog post has still not emerged in the Google blog search index after 2 hours. I am beginning to think that the content influenced how Google treated it after spidering the site. The post included some references to drugs – this may have got the article quarantined in some way?

Questions you might like to ask yourself are: Is the content unique and original? Are my expectations realistic for the age of my blog?
Ordinarily, the template will not influence SERPs. Social bookmarking should be one of many methods used to promote the site. Do not place all your eggs in one basket. Look at other techniques as described elsewhere on this blog.
You should try to build authority. Try to obtain a few links from credible sources such as trustworthy sites or blogs in your niche.
As we mentioned elsewhere, these days, blogging is a marathon not a sprint. It takes quite a time to build an authoritative blog.
Good luck!
